Today we had a visit of Raya (Sarisin's Raya Raduga) and her owners. Raya is a sister of Altai.

We received the sad news from family Janssens from Belgium that their beloved
Snegurka Yula died today.
Yula was almost 13 years old, a treasured member of the family and she will be
deeply missed...

Whether we want it or not.... Life goes on....
L-litter update, 3rd week

November 30
The most terrible thing I could never have imagined happened.
Sunday late in the evening our Byelka went into a shock, very suddenly and unexpected.
We took her to the vet immediately and tried everything to safe her life but she had massive internal bleedings and
the damage was too big.... we had to let her go. She died in my arms.
It was a nightmare and we still can't believe it. We are shocked, angry, heartbroken and so, so very sad.
We have no idea what caused it, we only know that the silence in our house is breath-taking and
we miss her so much it hurts.
Byelka was a very special dog. She was my shadow, I was her world.
"Sweet" is not a good expression to describe her. She was strong willed, self confident,
noisy, stubborn, but also very good with puppies, male dogs and people she liked.
She caught hedgehogs and she was the dirtiest dog we ever had. We loved her.
We miss her terribly......

Yvonne and Dyerza came to visit us and Altai enjoyed Dyerza's visit a lot. They
played and played....

November 8
Look what the stork delivered:

The puppies of Lancelot Savitas and Darja,
two boys and three girls, weights between 530-600 gram!!
The first male puppy was born without any problems on Tuesday morning 7.50.
After that..... nothing happened. It ended in a c-section because one dead puppy was delaying the birth process.
Both Darja and her puppies recovered very quickly.
Darja is a super mom who takes care of them as if she has done nothing else all her life.

Darja 7,5 weeks pregnant

Darja is now 7,5 weeks pregnant, only a little time to go. Darja is not very big, I don't think she will have
a lot of puppies but she is growing and doing well.
The room is ready, the whelpingbox will be put up soon and then.... we wait :-)

The echography confirmed today: Darja is pregnant!!
She and Lancelot Savitas from Lithuania will hopefully have puppies in the beginning of November...

The life and events of an SRO breeder :-)
In a nutshell:
After our attempt to mate Darja with Lancelot in April failed, we were thinking about other possibilities to make this combination.
Darja's next bleeding was going to be in September and as it so happened, the European Dogshow was in the Netherlands
in September and a friend of us from Lithuania, Ilana, was going to this show.
When Ilana went back to Lithuania she took Leo and Darja with her and they both stayed in Lithuania for some time.
Darja had her bleeding, was mated and Leo and Darja returned back home with Sjaak & Yvonne who were in
Lithuania to pick up our new puppy Dyerza!
There was so much planning, organising, emailing and sleepless nights before this all came to reality but now
we are so happy: Darja IS pregnant! It made everything worthwhile :-)
Thank you Ilana Kuliesiene, Regina Jodeikiene, Leo, Sjaak and Yvonne!
Now all we can do is wait until November...

Today it is 20 years ago that our first litter was born!
Our D-litter was the start of our kennel......

We are very happy to welcome Dear Derzhava Balandis into our family!

Dyerza is from Lithuania, bred by Natalia Starodubceva from the Balandis kennel.
Her parents are Snezhnyi Rusich Barin x Jasma Balandis.
Dyerza will be co owned and live with our friends Sjaak and Yvonne and their SRO female Suka.

September 4
European Dogshow in Leeuwarden
This was a weekend to remember :-)
Altai was 1 Exc and EUROPEAN YOUTH CHAMPION under judge M Uresovic (Xs)

But the nicest thing was the reunion with all our friends from Italy, Spain, Germany and Lithuania.
We had a great get-together and BBQ with all of them and we made some nice trips :-)

July 9
World Dogshow in Paris, judge S. Morand (F).
Altai was 2nd with Exc in Youth Class.

Sergio and I were asked to assist kennel Russkiy Velikan in their kennel presentation with 4 SROs.
There was a huge amount of groups in the ring, about 60 kennels presented their dogs and much to our surprise
our group was selected 2nd!!
(one of the males already left for Junior Best in Show competition)

Apart from that, we had a great vacation with all our friends

June 19

Vjuga Balandis, the female that had to be rehomed found a loving new home with Mrs Denis in France!!!
I am very happy for her and I hope she will have a great life.

Lilly found a new home! She is now living with her new owners in Germany.

April 15
Our dogs are fed with meat and bones since a few years, but this is ready, frozen, grinded food.
But since some time, our dogs eat "BARF" every 2-3 days per week. Apart from Boya they all LOVE it!
Boya is not amused when she has to chew on her food...
She makes an exception for lamb ribs and tripe, but she does not care for salmon or chicken.
For Byelka, Ayna and Altai a diner such as this is a party!

Kaya's owners Sjaak, Yvonne and their children Petra, Christa and Thijs are
real horse lovers. Christa participated in dressage events with their stallion Djur
and this time she dedicated  her ride to Kaya, whom she symbolised as a butterfly.

The echography today showed that Darja is not pregnant.....
We are very disapointed although the "mating" was a long shot, but we had some hopes.

Another SRO female in Germany is looking for a new home.
Her name is Lilly, she is not even a year old.

March 9
Darja started her bleeding last week. Due to several factors (Darja's progesteron peaks very rapidly,
snow in Lithuania, my work) it was impossible for me to travel with Darja to Lithuania
where Lancelot, the male of my choice, lives. But I met him during my visit in Lithuania in January
and I fell in love with this gentleman and I had no doubts about this combination.
But how to proceed? Luckily Lancelots owner and her veterinarian were very co operative
and we decided to take semen from Lancelot and send it over by plain.
That is not as easy as it sounds, it takes a lot of procedures and organising, mailing and telephoning
but to make a long story short: on March 8 Darja was inseminated and now we can only hope that nature
will work with us and she will give us some nice, healthy and lovely puppies in May....

March 6
CACIB show in Groningen. Only 2 SROs were entered: Belaja Vorozheja Rotmistr in
Intermediate Class and Sarisin's Ruskoy Altai in Junior Class. Judge was Mr T. Eerola
from Finland. There were some other breeds before us and much to our surprise even some
Champion dogs left the ring with a qualification "Good". We heard that the judge was a very strict one
so when I entered the ring with Altai, I didn't expect much - it was his first real show.
But Altai behaved very well. Showing for him is fun, being at a show is like being on a party and he
enjoys everything! He got Exc 1, res CAC! Romis got Exc 1, CAC and was BOB.
Romis too behaved like an experienced "showman".
It was wonderful to see these 2 males together, like best friends.

There is a SRO female in Germany who is looking for a loving new home!!!
Vjuga is a 1,5 years old white female and originally from Lithuania. She is a friendly,
people orientated girl, currently living in a foster home.

More sad news. Marlou and Siggi had to say goodbye to Sarisin's Yskra Himera (Kyra).
Kyra was born on March 21, 1998.
The lives of Marlou and Siggi evolved around Kyra, she was the absolute number 1 in their
family and they will miss her so terribly...

January 25
Glenn and I made a 3 day trip to Lithuania, to visit some colleague breeders from the Balandis
and the Savitas kennel. We were heartwarmingly welcomed everywhere we came.
We also met our old friend Ilana Kuliesiene from the Taurapilis kennel (not "old" in age but
our friendship dates back to 1996, she is the breeder of our female Debora Taurapilis).
It was a very nice trip, we saw some wonderful and beautiful SROs - some relatives of Boya -
and enjoyed Lithuanian hospitality and good food :-)!

Sarisin's Snezhynka Sinya (born February 9, 1999) died today.
We want to thank Sebastian and his family for loving her all these years.
She crossed the rainbowbridge to be re united with her Leonberger friend Giorgio....
